On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the Media Lounge, located on the B1 floor of Teikyo University Media Library Center (MELIC), the library on Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus was renovated and reopened.
Aiming to create a space for students to gather and relax, we placed a 4-meter symbolic tree in the center, installed wall-mounted bookshelves with built-in benches and cube-shaped unit bookshelves, and arranged books, magazines, and comics that match the interests of students, so that students can feel comfortable visiting. We also installed large-screen monitors, Wi-Fi, charging spots, and made it possible for students to bring in snacks, making it a space that students can easily drop in to on a daily basis.
An event to commemorate the reopening was held for on-campus students on Wednesday, September 24th and Thursday, September 25th, with over 300 students visiting the Media Lounge. Participating students made comments such as, "The green-themed space makes the Media Lounge brighter and easier to enter," "I had never been to the Media Lounge before, but when I found out that they also serve snacks and charge my devices, I feel like I want to use it more often from now on," "The books are cleverly arranged so they're easy to see, making it a space where you'll want to linger," and "It's spacious and has a calming atmosphere, making it easy to spend time in," and it is hoped that the number of users will increase in the future.
